Daan’s 2020 Melbourne Property Market Predictions

These are my predictions of the 2020 property market in Melbourne.

In 2019 we’ve seen a really good recovery already in the property market, in particular, driven by the top end. And I think this is a trend that we’re going to continue to see in the first half of 2020 where the top end will really drive those results. But it will hit a ceiling. And when that happens, you’re going to see the rest of the market recovering as well in the second half of 2020.

Now apartments is a slightly different beast. Over the past five, seven years, we’ve had to deal with a bit of an oversupply of apartments and that hasn’t really changed yet. There’s still more apartments coming on the market. So apartments can still be great, but you need to be very specific on the strategy and the quality.

Speaking of quality, for 2020, really if you stick with good quality property in good quality areas, you are really going to be performing well.
