REA Group has invested in the thriving proptech industry, acquiring a minority stake in an online trading system to assist property managers, landlords and tenants in managing repairs and maintenance.
Tenants use the system to pay rent and lodge maintenance and repair applications with the understanding that they are promptly reported to the landlord and property manager. Tradespeople are paid immediately through the automatic payment processes of Managed.
Mr. Whitlock, one of the founders of Managed, said “We’re similar to Airtasker [an online marketplace that enables users to outsource everyday tasks] but we take a much smaller clip of the ticket.”
Managed has signed up 5,000 tradespeople since the release last year as well as more than 105 real estate companies that use the app to control their rent rolls.
To date, the app has facilitated more than $60 million in tradie jobs, representing more than 51,000 individual transactions.
