CitiBank has started to recognize the need to increase it’s workforces gender diversity, with a record number of female interns starting at the global banking giant last month. Citi’s Head of Investment Bank, Tony Osmond, hopes that this initiative will translate into more women in senior positions as they progress through the organization.
Currently Citi sits at below average for the number of women in their workforce. Of their 1,500 plus team, 46.2% are women, whilst the industry standard is 56.2%.
It is promising to see Citi starting to take the initiative and action that is required, in order to turn the dial on it’s workforce diversity. Hopefully the bank will be able to maintain it’s momentum that it has gained so far, in order to be able to create a truly diverse, and inclusive workforce, that will ultimately lead to better business decisions being made.
