The Covid-19 pandemic has affected many businesses. Uncertainty around how long the crisis might last has compounded anxiety and left companies struggling to contain the fallout. Businesses have had their models turned upside down, suffered significant reductions in profit and have had to either reduce headcount or adapt to the environment by implementing remote work.
Whilst this has caused stress and turmoil for some executives, those who remain resilient in times of crisis will see better outcomes. Executives need to change their mindset to one of learning, improving and innovating. As much as possible, they should carve out time to think about what they need to do in the short term, such as dealing with staff and customer challenges, as well as over the long term.
This could include thinking about new opportunities and market segments that should be explored, as well as finding more efficient ways of working and communicating. By doing so, businesses will emerge from the crisis stronger and leaders will find that improved products, markets, services and ways of working will become the new normal.
